The emphasis is on housing development. This training programme is treated in two parts. The first part introduces participants/learners to a general overview of the housing industry in Ghana – Nature of the housing problem, the need for a good housing policy, effectiveness or failure of housing enactments and legislations, types of houses (affordable housing and luxury homes), etc.

TARGET GROUP
This programme is suitable for career-oriented individuals including Senior High School Leavers and matured corporate/business personnel who desire to pursue courses and upgrade their careers in various specialised areas in the real estate industry, including property management, facilities management, land administration/management, and real estate agency practice.
Course objective
This training programme is treated in two parts. The first part introduces trainees/learners to a general overview of the housing industry in Ghana – Nature of the housing problem, the need for a good housing policy, effectiveness or failure of housing enactments and legislations, types of houses (affordable housing and luxury homes), etc. The programme also focuses on the housing delivery process – The stages involved in the housing development process, the legal issues, the economic and financing issues, the physical construction process and construction project management. Learners will know the sequential stages of the housing development process from site identification to project completion and delivery.
The second part of the programme treats administration of the housing estate upon completion of the development. Learners will be tutored in the range of services with respect to sale and leasing and management of completed houses forming part of housing estates, apartment complexes, etc. Learners will know ways of adopting well-planned marketing campaigns to procure tenants and all the techniques of good property and facilities management pertaining specifically to housing schemes.

Learning outcomes
The course has been designed to equip learners with basic knowledge on the steps required to take a housing development concept and turn it into a completed project. The participant/learner will possess relevant knowledge and be in a position to:
Advise on the housing development potential of parcels of land in different locations to maximise investment returns.
Evaluate the direction of growth of the city and its impact on proposed housing development schemes.
Provide basic construction project management services on small-scale housing projects, such as services provided by the clerk of works.
Understand the sequential stages of the land and property development processes from site identification to project completion and delivery.
Understand the planning approval and building permit processes
Source development finance for proposed housing projects
Provide housing administration services such as lease structuring and enforcement of lease agreements, tenant selection, facilities management services, repairs and maintenance, etc.
