Surveyor David Kwesi Dautey graduated with a B.Sc. (Hons) in Land Economy Degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, in 1979. Upon graduation, he was appointed as a Teaching Assistant and taught under-graduates in Land Resource Economics for one year at the Department of Land Economy, KNUST. In 2007, he did a post-graduate study at the University of Ghana, Legon, and obtained his M.A. in Economic Policy Management.
He is a Fellow of the Ghana Institution of Surveyors and has over thirty years’ experience in Valuation Surveying. He has undertaken valuation and feasibility/viability appraisals in several sectors both in the rural and urban settings.
For the period 1980-1986, he was in Nigeria where he worked in the private sector as a Valuation Surveyor with Messrs Ishmael and Partners, Lagos and Messrs Dike Obialo and Partners, Aba Imo State. His duties included Capital Valuation of landed properties for Mortgage, Insurance, Sale, Compensation for compulsory acquisitions, Feasibility and Viability.
He thereafter, gained considerable wealth of experience lecturing at the tertiary level, specifically in Land Resource Economic, Valuation and Property Management at the Department of Land Surveying and Estate Management, Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt, Nigeria.
Upon his return to Ghana, for the period 1987-1999, he initially worked with the then Land Valuation Board (now the Land Valuation Division of the Lands Commission). During this period he worked variously on valuation matters such as the valuation of Cocoa farms for Ghana Cocobod in the Central region, valuation of crops destroyed by the activities of Timber Firms, Valuation of Industrial Properties and Oil Palm Plantation of Ameen Sangari Soap Factories in the Central and Greater Accra Regions.
He served as the Team Leader for the compilation and valuation of Properties occupied by Refugees at the Buduburam Camp in the Central Region. He served as the Board’s representative on the Ghana Institution of Surveyors.
For the period 1999-2014 he worked at the Office of the Administrator of Stool Lands as Chief Stool Lands Officer and was in charge of Operations, Coordination of all Regional Activities and Team Leader of the Office in the implementation of the 15-25 years Land Administration Project.
He currently works with ADF Real Estate Valuation and Consultancy as a Partner and Principal Consultant. He also lectures in Land Administration and Management at the Otumfuo Center for Traditional Leadership, University of Professional Studies, (UPSA) Accra.
